The Place That Protects What Is Essential
There are places you visit, and there are places that quietly change the way you want to live.
Pescadero is the latter.
Nestled between the Sierra Laguna mountains and the Pacific, Pescadero sits along the Pacific Corridor — also known locally as Los Oasis. It is close enough to the familiar destinations of Baja California Sur, yet it carries a rhythm distinctly its own.
Los Cerritos is about five minutes away, with its world-renowned surf. Todos Santos is roughly ten minutes up the road. Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo are approximately 45 minutes away, while Los Cabos International Airport and La Paz are each about an hour away.
But proximity only tells part of the story.
Here, days can begin with surf at sunrise and unfold into long lunches in Todos Santos, afternoons among nature and art, or simply time spent without anywhere else to be.
It’s Malibu in the ’60s — only now, it’s Baja.
A Place Worth Protecting
The name XKANA begins with a simple idea.
“Kana” means “to protect.” The X marks the spot — literally, this place — together reading as “the place that safeguards what is essential.”
The name also nods to Skana, the Haida word for orca: a refuge built on migration and memory.
That meaning shapes the belief at the center of XKANA:
Live It Fully. Protect It Always.
It is an approach that extends beyond architecture or hospitality. XKANA is a Baja California ecosystem spanning wellness, hospitality, real estate, custom building, and experiences — all connected by a relationship with the landscape and the community around it.
More Than a Destination
XKANA was conceived as a grounded alternative to conventional resort development.
Rather than separating where you stay, gather, explore, and live, the ecosystem brings those experiences together.
There are three off-grid concrete Villas designed for modern sustainable living. Huerta creates a physical gathering place through food, wellness, hospitality, and the garden. Experiences invite people to engage directly with the Baja landscape and lifestyle. XKANA’s design and build work extends that philosophy into homes created for clients.
And the Journal exists to tell the stories around all of it.
The people. The landscape. The causes. The architecture. The experiences that give this stretch of Baja its character.
Because this place is more than something to visit, build on, or sell.
It is something to belong to.
